This series is a horror themed critique of religion in the United States government, based compositionally and thematically off of famous renaissance paintings.
1. "The Lamentation" - As an antithesis of the original painting showing Christian holy figures mourning Jesus's dead body, this photo is a critique of radical, politicized Christianity. Three politicians surround the "Jesus" figure, disembowling him and getting rid of everything that makes him who he is. They've put their own decorative cross inside, replacing the holy body with their frivolous idea of what religion should stand for in American politics.
2. "The Annunciation" - This photo is based on the original annunciation painting, showing the angel Gabriel descending from the heavens to tell Mary she's pregnant. It's a critique of the use of women’s reproductive healthcare as a standpoint for moral superiority, and critiques the destructive barrage of attacks sent after women during Reagan's political campaigns in the 80's (and how it relates to present day).
3. "The Birth of Venus" - This photo is a critique of the current banning and dismissal of knowledge and history in the United States, and its close ties to the rise of facism in the early 1900s.
